It’s been a busy few months here at Devon Heaven HQ. We’ve been carefully selecting, sourcing and trying new products ready for the season ahead. As well as sourcing new products, we’ve been creating a new range of hampers and adding some tasty new additions to our long term favourites too. We try our best to listen to your feedback and with this in mind, we have expanded our range of delicious savoury hampers. Each of our products is chosen for it’s traditional artisan origins, award-winning taste and high quality. New Extras in the ‘Cheese & English Wine’ Hamper
The Devon Heaven Cheese & English Wine Hamper now includes more products than ever; we’ve added a ‘200g Snowdonia Cheese Company Bouncing Berry Mature Cheddar Cheese with Cranberries’ and ‘Mr Filbert’s mixed olives with Rosemary & Garlic’; perfect for after dinner or as a tasty savoury snack. Our same great hamper filled with more delicious award-winning products!
Bouncing Berry Cheese - British Cheese Awards Gold Medal
The ‘Bouncing Berry Mature Cheddar Cheese with Cranberries’ impressed us so much that we have gone ‘out of County’ for this special cheese. The Snowdonia Cheese Company is a family business in Rhyl, North Wales and is run by the sons of third-generation dairy farmers. Bouncing Berry is a creamy, light and fruity cheese with bursts of real cranberries, making it a sweet addition to the cheeseboard. Our thoughts about this delicious cheese were confirmed when it bounced its way to a gold medal at the British Cheese Awards!
Mr Filberts Olives - Interesting Halkidiki and Kalamata Olives with a Delicious Twist
Mr Filbert’s fine foods are renowned for discovering really interesting flavours from around the world for and are always in search of snacking perfection. Greek Halkidiki and Kalamata Olives are famous for their wonderful texture and great taste and they have a very well-deserved place in our ‘Cheese & English Wine Hamper’. Marinated with Rosemary and Garlic before packing, these olives are free from added oil, which means you can enjoy them straight from the pack.
Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve - Gold Medal Sommelier Wine Award Winner 2019
We are proud to include English White Wine in the ‘Cheese & English Wine’ Hamper. Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve dry white wine is produced on the Sharpham Estate in the heart of the South Hams area of Devon. This wine is ripe and fruit driven and has a rich profile. Stone fruits such as white peach dominate the nose. The palate is rounded with sweet apricot and a subtle spice on the finish. Perfect with chicken or seafood salads and light tapas dishes and paella. Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve has won many accolades including Gold Gold Medal Sommelier Wine Awards 2019 and Trophy Medal Winner ‘Best Dry White Wine’ - South West Vineyards Competition 2017
Quicke's Mature Clothbound Cheddar - Great Taste 2019’ Award
The Great Taste Awards are hosted every year by the Guild of Fine Foods. It is their flagship competition, the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards. Thousands of contestants put their food and drink to the test in front of a panel of 500 experts, ranging from chefs and buyers, food writers and retailers – in other words, the people in the industry who really know their stuff. Quicke’s vintage clothbound cheddar is a long-standing favourite in Devon Heaven hampers. Located in Newton St Cyres near Exeter, Quicke’s Cheese is handcrafted using milk from grass-fed cows, clothbound and naturally matured, typically for 24 months. It comes as no surprise that this rich intense cheese with a delightfully crumbly texture and huge depth of flavour has won numerous awards including Bath & West British Cheese Awards Silver 2019, Gold at the World Cheese Awards 2015 and at Taste of the West 2016.
Taste of the West award winning Artisan Savoury Seaweed Thins, handmade in Cornwall
Popti Cornish Bakehouse Seaweed Savoury Thins are a more recent addition to Devon Heaven hampers. These crisp biscuits are made in small batches in Bude, Cornwall with the kind of ingredients you would find in your kitchen at home. They are just perfect to accompany a cheeseboard, baked cheese, dips, chutneys or patés. These delicous savoury biscuits have a touch of Cornish seaweed sprinkle to give them a unique umami flavour. Umami (or savouriness) is one of the 5 basic tastes and is captured just perfectly in these Taste of the West 2016 Silver Award Winning Popti Cornish Bakehouse thins.
Artisan North Devon chutney, delicously local and perfect with cheese and savoury biscuits
It takes a seriously good, flavoursome chutney for inclusion in a Devon Heaven Hamper. Brendon Hill Crafts Apple & Ginger Chutney ticks all the boxes; locally made in North Devon by Brendon Hill Crafts, makers of fine preserves since 1984 and cooked in small pans that produce 20-25 jars at a time. Jars are hand-filled, hand-labelled and finally hand-packed into our Devon Heaven Hampers. The refreshing taste of apricot and ginger is a mouth-watering accompaniment to any savoury platter.

New for 2021, we have introduced a fantastic ‘Cheese & Savoury Snacks’ hamper to our range. We know not everyone has a sweet tooth and our ‘Cheese & Savoury Snacks’ hamper is the perfect gift for those with a savoury rather than sweet tooth. Bursting with tasty savoury treats including cheeses, olives, nuts, chutneys and melt in the mouth savoury biscuits. Some of the treats you will find in the new ‘Cheese & Savoury Snacks’ Hamper are different to those in the ‘Cheese & English Wine’ Hamper and include:
Showcasing traditional foods - Brendon Hill Crafts Apple Cheese with Somerset Cider Brandy
We are passionate about showcasing traditional food and that includes some you might not have heard of. Fruit cheese is an old-fashioned name for preserves made with fruit puree and sugar. Fruit cheeses are made from a stiff fruit purée and can be turned out in one piece and cut with a knife in place of cheese or, cut into small pieces, as a sweetmeat. They are also delicious as a condiment to cold meat. Brendon Hill Crafts ‘Apple Cheese with Somerset Cider Brandy’ is a real talking point and a unique addition to a plate of savoury treats. This traditional fruit cheese won a Taste of the West Gold Award in 2014 and is still hand-made in small batches, hand-filled and hand-labelled and we are proud to include this traditional product in our savoury hampers.
Melt in the mouth Furniss Westcountry Cheddar Biscuits
Packed full of flavour, these light savoury biscuits pack a powerful punch of cheese. Boldly flavoured with Davidstow® Cheddar, a sweet flinty West Country cheese known for its long palate. Pure Cornish butter and tangy Cornish sea salt from The Lizard Peninsula add an extra- savoury finish. These deliciously light and flavoursome cheddar biscuits arebaked in Cornwall by Furniss; biscuit bakers for over 125 years, using timely recipes and quality, locally sourced ingredients. They are quite simply - divine!
New flavours to challenge the senses, Black Truffle & Seasalt
Mr Filbert’s speciality is in creating new and interesting flavours for savoury snacks and their new Black Truffle & Seasalt doesn’t disappoint. Mixed nuts are oven roasted and then tumbled in rich black truffle and sea salt, to give them a distinctive nutty, salty, truffly taste. Delicious eaten as part of a savoury plate or great as a stand-alone savoury snack they had to have a well-deserved place in our ‘Cheese & Savoury Snacks’ Hamper.
